PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device working with less slip when a rolling body is in the rotating motion round its own axis, managing with a small requisite force for the clamping operation, and capable of enhancing the durability of a cam surface and the operating feeling of an operation lever. SOLUTION: The first cam surface 615 and the rolling body 75 are formed conically. Accordingly the rotating motion of the rolling body 75 is made with less slip to lead to a decrease of the requisite force for operating the operation lever, and also the durability of the contacting part is enhanced. A third cam surface 616 is formed so that the length of connecting the first cam surface 615 with the second cam surface 614 becomes greater as the distance X in the radial direction from the axis of a through hole 612 increases, and also the radius R of curvature is formed increasing as the distance X in the radial direction increases. Accordingly the whole bus bar length of the peripheral surface of the rolling body 75 in conical shape moves in a line contact at all times with the third cam surface 616 to result in a reduction of the contact pressure of the contacting part, which allows enhancement of the durability of the contacting part and also reducing the force required to operate the operation lever 71.
