PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of solving the problem that occurs due to a rise in a temperature when an optical disk with little environmental load is used. SOLUTION: The optical disk device is provided with: a temperature detection element 17 provided in the optical disk device to detect temperature; a focus coil 19 for displacing an objective lens 6 in the direction of the surface of an optical disk 1; a focus servo circuit 12 for supplying a driving signal to the focus coil 9; and a driving voltage value detection circuit 19 for detecting the direct current voltage of the driving signal to be supplied from the focus servo circuit 12 to the focus coil 9. The optical disk device detects the type of the mounted optical disk 1 by detecting the direct current voltage value of the driving signal by the driving voltage value detection circuit 19 when laser beams are focused on the signal layer of the optical disk 1, and lowers reproduction speed of the optical disk, when a temperature reaches a predetermined value while the optical disk with low usable temperature is reproduced at high speed.
