PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce raw material cost for a rolling bearing sleeve member. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the sleeve member comprises bending a flat steel plate into a cylindrical shape, welding its peripherally abutting portions to each other and forming the outer shape of the sleeve member with grinding work in this state, and then cutting the welded portions to form a cut-slit.
