PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce vibration during operation under out-of-predetermined operating conditions in a two-stage compressor 20 having a low-stage side compression mechanism 40a and a high-stage side compression mechanism 40b. SOLUTION: This two-stage compressor comprises a variable mechanism 55 for changing the closed volume of the low-stage side compression mechanism 40a or the high-stage side compression mechanism 40b. When the enclosed volume of the low-stage side compression mechanism 40a or the high-stage side compression mechanism 40b is changed by the variable mechanism 55, the volume of a fluid at the compression start time of the compression mechanisms 40a, 40b of which closed volumes are changed to change the volume of the fluid per unit time sucked into the compression mechanisms 40a, 40b. Then, the ratio of the suction volume of the low-stage compression mechanism 40a to that of the high-stage side compression mechanism 40b is changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
