PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease cutting resistance without decreasing feed speed and cutting depth which are cutting conditions. SOLUTION: A flat part (a nick 16 is not formed) is formed on a part rather closer to the end face (near the end face) of each torsion blade 15, the length of the flat part is gradually increased to L4, L5, L6 in the order of a torsion blade 15A, 15B and 15C, and the cutting resistance also shows the maximum value at the longest flat part rather closer to the end face of the torsion blade 15C. Since the handle side (the shank part 3 side) is cantilevered because of the structure of the end mill 1, the moment becomes maximum (moment=force×distance) in the end face. In the flat part, the above part where a nick 16 is not formed rather closer to the end faces of the plurality of torsion blades 15, the longest flat part, that is, the flat part rather closer to the end face of the torsion blade 15C is provided with a nick 17 different from the above nick 15.
