The invention relates to the use of at least one type of flavonoid comprising an unloaded base flavan body in the form of a synergist for enhancing a self-browning effect of substances such as triosen and tetrosen in cosmetic and dermatological formulations, to novel corresponding preparations and to the production thereof.
