Pneumatic braking system for railway train has pressure monitoring unit linked to satellite communications system

A railway train (26) has one or more locomotives (12) and wagons (13) with a pneumatic braking system (18) running through the train. The pneumatic braking system has a sub-section in each piece of rolling stock, each pneumatic brake sub-section linked to the next by a connector (17). The pressure monitoring unit is linked to a satellite telecommunications system. The pressure monitoring unit is located e.g. at the engineer's station and linked to an emergency air bleed station at the rear of the train.
