A plane illumination apparatus is provided to emit light irradiated from each LED through a front light emitting surface by arranging R, G, and B LEDs in each light emitting plate. A plane illumination apparatus includes a transparent light guide body(B) and plural LEDs having different wavelength. The transparent light guide body has a light emitting surface at a front surface and an LED mounting surface(3) as at least one side. Light emitted from each LED is scattered in the light guide body to emit the light from the light emitting surface. The transparent light guide body is formed by laminating plural transparent light guide plates(6R,6G,6B), with each light emitting surface facing the front. The LEDs are mounted on a side of each light emitting plate at a certain pitch. |
