An electron emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to enhance electron emission efficiency by preventing abnormal emission due to residues. A first panel includes a first substrate(110), a cathode electrode(120) disposed on the first substrate, and an electron emission source disposed on the cathode electrode. A second panel includes a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate, an anode electrode formed on the second substrate, and a phosphor layer formed on the anode electrode. An insulating layer is formed between the cathode electrode and a gate electrode(140). The gate electrode includes a heating material in order to generate heat.
