PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stably focus jump in recording and reproducing and a reproducing apparatus using a multi-layer film disk. SOLUTION: Focus jump can be performed stably in recording and reproducing or the reproducing apparatus using a multi-layer film disk by configuring the apparatus such that next layer inrush speed of an objective lens in an optical pickup is estimated and a pulse shape of a brake pulse can be varied based on the estimated result.
