PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of coating and composite particles coated by the method which can control the thickness of a uniform coating film to meet the requirement that the surfaces of oxide particles are preferably coated with an oxide having a different composition to enhance the function of the oxide particles such as silica. SOLUTION: The method is for manufacturing composite particles coated with an inorganic oxide film and is characterized in that composite oxide particles are manufactured by following steps (1)-(3): (1) a step for preparing a liquid dispersion by adding inorganic oxide particles, which become cores, to a non-polar organic solvent; (2) a step of adding water to the above dispersion for making water molecules adsorbed on the surface of the core particles; and (3) a step of adding a metal alkoxide dissolved in a non-polar organic solvent to the liquid dispersion.
