PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an analytical instrument separating a sample using an interference fringe of light, which is appropriate for use of a micro fluid device and have a highly accurate separating performance without applying chemical modification or a marker to the sample such as a biological substance by solving a problem that a particle size of a sample capable of being analyzed is restricted to a narrow range and a problem that a good separating performance can not be obtained if a flow path is short. SOLUTION: A light intensity, that is an amplitude of an interference fringe, is varied with time in a separating process period of a sample 22 existing in the flow path for separating. The variation of the light intensity is conducted by blinking the interference fringe of the light while the sample flow is reciprocated in case of a small particle sample and by decreasing gradually the light intensity of the interference fringe in case of a large particle sample. An interference fringe 55 formed by passing light through a diffraction grating is used for a sample having a particle size greater than a wave length of the light. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
