APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TREATING WASTE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating waste capable of reducing a concentration of chlorine contained in pyrolysis residue that is discharged from a pyrolysis apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating waste comprises: a pyrolysis furnace 1 for pyrolyzing waste into a pyrolysis gas a and a pyrolysis residue b; a cooling/mixing cleaning tank 10 that is a first cleaning means for mixing the pyrolysis residue discharged from the pyrolysis furnace 1 with water to clean chlorine contained therein; a dehydration equipment 20 for dehydrating mixed water of pyrolysis residue d discharged from the cooling/mixing cleaning tank 10; a mixing cleaning tank 30 that is a second cleaning means for further mixing the dehydrated pyrolysis residue z with water to clean chlorine contained therein; a dehydration equipment 40 for dehydrating mixed water of pyrolysis residue w discharged from the mixing cleaning tank 30; and a cleaning dehydration equipment 50 that is a third cleaning dehydration means for cleaning a pyrolysis residue y dehydrated in the dehydration equipment 40 to dehydrate it, wherein the cleaning dehydration equipment 50 supplies clean water o to the dehydrated pyrolysis residue to clean and then dehydrate it.
