An image forming element and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve connection structures and methods between a substrate and a drum body of the image forming element to increase reliability. An image forming element includes a drum body(10), a control unit(20), and a connection member. The drum body is formed of a pair of semi-cylindrical members(11,12) engaged with each other, and has a plurality of electrodes insulated from each other and formed at the engagement surface of the semi-cylindrical members, and line electrodes formed at its outer periphery at predetermined intervals. The control unit includes a substrate(21) having conductive parts corresponding to the line electrode, and a non-conductive part disposed between the conductive parts, and is installed in the drum body to insert both sides of the substrate into the engagement surface of the semi-cylindrical members. The connection member electrically connects the substrate of the control unit to each line electrode of the drum body.
