A mobile communication terminal and an operation method thereof are provided to change a file name of image or video files according to kinds of a preset display file when an image file or a video file stored in the mobile communication terminal is set as a file of a screen displayed on the mobile communication terminal, thereby preventing a user to delete or edit the image or video files according as the user can not recognize the fact that the files are set as the display file. A mobile communication terminal comprises the followings: a storage(10) for storing image or video files; a display(20) on which the file stored in the storage(10) is displayed; an input unit(30) for setting the image or video file stored in the storage(10) to be displayed on a predetermined screen of screens displayed on the display(20); and a controller(40) which changes a file name of the set file when the image and video files are set as display files through the input unit(30).
