PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical heater capable of reducing far infrared rays radiated to a heating object having optical transparency for uniformly heating the heating object in its thickness direction. SOLUTION: This optical heater is provided with at least one or more heater lamps and a reflection member reflecting light radiated from the heater lamp toward the heating object to be heating. In this optical heater, a far infrared ray absorbing member mainly transmitting near infrared rays and mainly absorbing far infrared rays with wavelength of 4.5μm or more is arranged on the front side of the heater lamp in the light radiation direction. Radiated light radiated from the heater lamp and reflected light from the reflection member are radiated to the heating object via the far infrared ray absorbing member, and the far infrared ray absorbing member is cooled down when the heater lamp is turned on.
