PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient optical coupling efficiency even when variation (mounting slippage) of distance between waveguide cores is caused when a plurality of optical waveguide components are assembled. SOLUTION: An optical module is provided with: the first optical waveguide component 1 having the first waveguide core 1A; the second optical waveguide component 2 which has the second optical waveguide core 2A and is provided so that the second optical waveguide core 2A is made partially close to the first optical waveguide core 1A and light propagated between the first optical waveguide core 1A and the second optical waveguide core 2A can be coupled; an electrooptical material layer 3 provided between the first optical waveguide core 1A and the second optical waveguide core 2A and constituted of electrooptical materials; and an electrode 4 for applying an electric field to the electrooptical material layer 3 so that the refractive index of the electrooptical material layer 3 changes and an optical coupling coefficient between the first optical waveguide core 1A and the second waveguide core 2A changes.
