PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low AC loss cold mass structure for a superconducting magnet and a method for manufacturing the cold mass structure. SOLUTION: The structure 26 for the superconducting magnet includes a composite bobbin 42 of thermal conductivity and electric resistivity, and a superconducting coil 46 disposed around the bobbin 42 for conducting current in superconductive condition. The structure 26 further includes electrically open coolant coils 48, 76, 84 disposed on the composite electrically resistant bobbin of thermal conductivity, the coils 48, 76, 84 can receive the flow of the coolant fluid for keeping the coil 46 superconductive by the transmission of heat through the bobbin 42 from the coil 46 to the coils 48, 76, 84.
