PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a communication speed, as much as possible, while ensuring stabilization of communication. SOLUTION: In a communications system, a transmission buffer memory 21 and a reception buffer memory 22 are provided on each of a pair of apparatuses A and B for performing one-to-one full duplex two-way communication, by mutually transmitting a unit data group to be transmitted and received in the lump as one unit of communication. In the communications system, the number of memory units in the transmission buffer 21 is set at the number not less than the minimum number of transmitter-side memories, obtained by adding one to the number of unit data groups to be transmitted during a setting period for waiting for reception confirming information, and the number of memory units in the reception buffer memory 22 is set as the number of memories not less than the minimum number of receiver-side memories obtained by adding one to the number of unit data groups to be received, before the one group of data of the unit data groups are retransmitted, after the reception of the unit data group has failed.
