PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use novel 2-phenylbenzimidazoles and new intermediate products as inhibitors of enzyme poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase or PARP (EC2.4.2.3-) for preparation and medicine production using them. SOLUTION: The novel 2-phenylbenzimidazoles of general formula (I) or (II), wherein the radicals have the same meanings as defined in the specification, and their tautomeric forms, possible enantiomeric and diastereomeric forms, their prodrugs, and possible physiologically compatible salts are produced and used.
