摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the width of an object to be measured, on the basis of the reflected signal of a transmitted ultrasonic wave. SOLUTION: An apparatus includes a transmitting means 1 that transmits predetermined different frequencies of transmission signals, in accordance with the control of a transmission controlling means 3; a plurality of receiving means 2 that detect reflected signals reflected by the object; a receiving-direction detecting means 4 that determines the receiving direction angle for each reflected signal, a distance-calculating means 5 that calculates the distance to the object; a reflected signal extracting means 6 that extracts a first reflected signal, with respect to a first frequency of transmission signal from transmission signals and a second reflected signal to a second frequency of transmission signal that is lower than the first frequency; and an object width calculating means 7 that calculates the width of the object, based on a receiving direction angleθ1 and a distance d1 calculated, based on the first reflected signal and a receiving direction angleθ2 and a distance d2 calculated, based on the second reflected signal.
