PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective sticker which can be easily removed from a component, even when the component is mounted into a complex, intricate apparatus, and a method for mounting an article. SOLUTION: The protective sticker 1 comprises a protective layer 2 equipped with a protective part 2a with a shape substantially identical to that of a protected surface of a protected article 6 and at least one protruding part 2b protruding from the protective part 2a, an adhesive layer 3 formed on at least a part of the protective part 2a on the back of the protective layer 2 and a heat-shrinkable or photo-contractible layer 4 formed at the base of the protruding part 2b. The protective sticker 1 is stuck on the protected article 6 in advance, and the component is mounted in the apparatus and the subsequently exposed to heat or light so that the shrinkable layer 4 shrinks and the protruding part 2b stands up. The protective sticker 1 can be easily removed from the component, even when the component is mounted into a complex, intricate apparatus, and thus realizes shortening of manufacturing time and cost-reduction of the apparatus.
