A text is so displayed that the layout of characters and the look are the same even in an environment having different fonts from those of the environment in which the text is made without increasing the amount of data. The text making side creates font metric information by means of font metric information creating means (20) and transmits the this information to the text display side through information communication means (30). The text display side changes the shapes of the characters of the existing font in the text display side according to the font metric information by means of character shape changing means (40) and draws characters at specified positions on the display screen by means of text display means (42).
