<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of banding, in an image forming apparatus having a transfer process and a fixing process. <P>SOLUTION: The distance between a transfer position and a primary fixing section is made slightly shorter than the shortest image-receiving medium. The distance between the transfer position and a secondary fixing section is made slightly shorter than the longest image-receiving medium. When an image is formed on the shortest image-receiving medium, the image is fixed in the primary fixing section and the secondary fixing section.
