PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly display a zebra pattern to be superimposed on excessive luminance region. SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus removes holes or chunks in excessive luminance regions of an image, by using a morphological filter such as, an opening morphological filter, a closing morphological filter, and the like.
