PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NTC thermistor element which is simply constituted and shows a linear temperature characteristic in a very wide range and is easily manufactured, and to provide a method of manufacturing the NTC thermistor element. SOLUTION: There is provided a thermistor resistor 12 ofβ-FeSi<SB>2</SB>made by adding dopants to an iron silicide. The dopants are Mn, Co, Cr, Ni, Pt, Al or the like. If the dopant is set to A, a composition of Fe<SB>1-x</SB>A<SB>x</SB>Si<SB>2</SB>(0.0≤x≤0.1) is formed. The thermistor resistor 12 is printed on a front surface of an insulating substrate 14 and fired, or is formed by depositing or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
