The hand tool with a lock in one rotating direction and a freewheel movement in the other direction with a toothed ring (12) at the tool head, e.g. a socket wrench, has a direction change mechanism with a push button (21), a control component (22) and a locking pawl set (23). When the button is pressed the control component with an opening (221) is rotated and a pawl (231,232) of the pawl set engages the toothed ring so that the locked direction is changed by pressing the push button.
