A method and a system for settling an express highway toll based on the WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) are provided to solve traffic jam with reduced tollgate passing time and save personnel expense of collectors by settling the tool with an LBS(Location-Based Service) and a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) terminal connected to the Internet. Each AP(Access Point)(201,202) transmits toll settlement service information to the WLAN terminal(101) of the driver at the tollgate, and a DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server(400) allocates an IP(Internet Protocol) address by responding to a request of the WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) terminal. A billing system(500) authenticates the WLAN terminal, and transmits the toll settlement service information to the AP and performs a billing process by using terminal, location, vehicle, and credit information of the driver. The billing system contains a customer terminal information database, a customer credit information database, a customer vehicle information database, a customer location information database, and a settlement system server.
