The invention relates to a system (1) for the remote reading of counters (5) or equipment comprising visual data indicators (6), which is characterised in that it is based on the use of reconfigurable logic devices (9) and in that it can be remotely reconfigured, thereby converting said system (1) into a universal system which is suitable for any type of counter (5) and which can be adapted to variations in the installation or operation conditions of the counter (5) or the system (1) itself. The invention also relates to reconfiguration methods, image capture methods, etc., which are characterised in that they comprise the parallel implementation of tasks with the use of queues, thereby reducing the capacity or quantity of data storage memories needed.
