A system and a method for connecting a messenger partner by using short-range communication are provided to allow users to form new personal relations by enabling terminals, performing the short-range communication, to search for partners preferred by each user and connect the searched partners with each corresponding user. A system for connecting a messenger partner by using short-range communication is comprised of a search condition storage part(116), a short-range communication module(112), a search module(114), and a control part(102). The search condition storage part(116) stores messenger partner search conditions that the user sets. The short-range communication module(112) executes communication with terminals, which exist in its own short-range communication area. The search module(114) activates the short-range communication module(112), acquires opened information about users of each terminal, and searches for a terminal having opened user information which is matched with all or a part of the search conditions stored in the search condition storage part(116). The control part(102) executes communication with the searched terminal.
