A personal portable device and a method for controlling the same are provided to enable the first/second terminal main bodies to be arranged in the front side and enable the first/fourth main bodies to be arranged in the front side by rotating the terminal main bodies by using a hinge unit, thereby being used for both of a portable phone and a PDA(Personal Digital Assistance) by mounting the first and second keypads, and improving special utilization by further mounting modules having the other functions. A personal portable device comprises the followings: plural terminal main bodies(110~140); and a hinge unit including hinges(150~180) for connecting ends of the terminal main bodies(110~140) to be mutually rotated, and connecting the terminal main bodies(110~140) in a shape of an endless chain structure by using the hinges(150~180). An even number of terminal main bodies(110~140) are provided. Terminal main bodies, located in the first half part among the terminal main bodies(110~140), are arranged in length combination equal to terminal main bodies located in the second half part. The terminal main bodies(110~140) located in the first and second half parts face each other to provide a bar-type terminal.
