<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide device and a method for driving a motor at a low cost which can shorten the starting period switched from a drive, in a staring mode to a drive in a counter electromotive voltage return mode for improving the starting speed. <P>SOLUTION: The poly-phase motor driving device of rotor position sensorless is equipped with a rotor, a plurality phases of winding, a common terminal with one terminal of opposite terminals of each winding star-connected, an upper side drive transistor and a lower side drive transistor respectively connected to each non-common terminal of winding, a commutation control means for selecting two non-common terminals of windings, to allow one pair each of the corresponding upper side drive transistors and the lower side drive transistors to be turned on, a pulse-applying means for searching rotor position for applying a searching pulse between the two selected terminals, and a comparison means for detecting the rotor position, based on the response signal relative to the application of the search pulse which appears between the non-common terminals of windings which have not been selected and the common terminal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
