PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system and method which can form an image corresponding to each connected printer by achieving a function depending on the printer on a connected scanner. SOLUTION: The scanner starts a printer selection UI program stored therein, and when a user selects a printer, the scanner transmits an acquisition request of capability information to the selected printer. The scanner discriminates the presence of a print condition setting UI program on the basis of information as to whether or not an exclusive print condition setting UI program included in the acquired capability information is stored.
