PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of achieving a tracking function of easily tracking an object. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a motor control circuit 210 for selectively controlling a motor 212 used for a panning mechanism horizontally rotating a camera unit into either of a stop processing state, a low-speed drive processing speed and high-speed drive processing state; and a CPU 207 for performing control to take a picture using a photographing means in parallel with a time during which the motor 212 is in the stop processing state or the low-speed drive processing state.
