PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a camera system which reduces a load of image conversion processing, suppresses the deterioration of a resolution, eliminates the uselessness of a CCD element, eliminates image distortion, reduces cost and prevents the uselessness of a vertical angle of a field, and an intercom using the camera system. SOLUTION: The camera system 2 is is used for a monitoring system for monitoring a monitoring target area such as a road in front of one's own house by video monitoring and has an imaging part 7, an image processing part 8 and an outputing part 9. The imaging part 7 has an anamorphic lens system 5 and a CCD 6 and images the monitoring target area at an angle of a field wider in horizontal direction than in vertical direction.
