PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress an image data changed into a pseudo gradation by a dither pattern with a high efficiency at a high speed, and to develop the image data at the high speed by a small-scale hardware. SOLUTION: A method data-compresses a pseudo gradation image FD changed into the pseudo gradation by using the dither pattern DP. The method has: a first step of partitioning the pseudo gradation image at every specified region TL; a second step of determining the central values AP of each region TL, and a third step of preparing a compressed data by using the determined central value AP. The densities of each pixel TP in the aimed region TL1 are interpolated and obtained according to a predetermined interpolating rule by using the central value of the aimed region and the central values AP0 of one or a plurality of the regions adjacent to the aimed region regarding the aimed region TL1 of one region in the region TL at the second step. The central value AP1 in which the pseudo gradation image FD in the aimed region TL1 is reproduced when a change into the pseudo gradation is conducted by using the dither pattern DP is obtained and determined as the central value AP1 in the aimed region TL1 regarding the aimed region TL1 at the second step.
