PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce working time and member machining time in installation. SOLUTION: This friction damper device 1 comprises a sliding member 3 fixed to a building, and friction members 4 holding the sliding member 3 in a predetermined position. The friction damper device 1 further comprises an upper steel plate 5A and a lower steel plate 5B holding from the outside of the friction members 4, and fastening means 7 fastening the upper and lower steel plates 5A, 5B to each other by clamping bolts 6 which penetrate them on both sides to the axial direction of the sliding member 3. The fastening means 7 comprises the clamping bolt 6 with a nut 11 screwed thereto; upper and lower washers 14A, 14B provided at the head of the clamping bolt 6 and inside the nut 11; plate springs 13A, 13B provided between both washers 14A, 14B and the upper and lower steel plates 5A, 5B to apply compressive force to the friction members 4; and a cylindrical member 12 abutting on the upper washer 14A with a predetermined fastening length D3.
