PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency opening valve with a valve element to be opened/closed with a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: The valve element 2 of a rotary valve for opening/closing a flow path P is energized to a valve closing direction with the dead weight of a weight 10. The weight 10 is shaped into a container to the inside of which fluid W can be introduced and to the outside of which the introduced fluid W can be discharged, to achieve a variable dead weight. The introduction of the fluid W into the weight 10 increases the dead weight to turn the valve element 2 to be closed, and the discharge of the fluid W therefrom reduces the dead weight to turn the valve element 2 to be opened with fluid pressure in the flow path P. The introduction of the fluid W into the weight 10 is carried out via an introduction pipe 11 with a solenoid valve 14 which communicates the internal of the weight 10 with the internal of the flow path P on the upstream side of the rotary valve, and the discharge of the fluid W therefrom is carried out via a discharge pipe 16 with a solenoid valve 15. The introduction and discharge of the fluid W are controlled by the operation of the solenoid valves 14, 15, therefore eliminating the need for a complicated operating means such as a hydraulic cylinder or a torque generator for operating the valve element 2 to be opened/closed.
