PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide roof members improved in workability by a verge arabesque individually covering the end portion in the longitudinal direction of respective roof plate surfaces and by an arabesque receiver accepting it, in the end portion of the longitudinal direction roofs obtained by connecting the laterally sheathed roofing plates in a plurality of width direction, in which the roofing plates comprises the front end surface obtained by bending one side end of a roughly flat roof plate surface to the rear surface side, an insertion piece obtained by further bending the roof plate surface to the rear surface side, and an engaging groove obtained by bending the other side end of the roof plate surface to the front surface side to form an engaging groove to allow the insersion piece of the roofing plate to be engaged therewith, and to provide a laterally sheathed roofing structure using the same. SOLUTION: The verge arabesque is connected to the arabesque receiver by means of at least one connecting means selected from the following two types of connecting means; (a) a connection piece is formed in the verge arabesque and a function to be engaged with the verge arabesque is formed in the arabesque receiver; (b) the arabesque side surface of the verge arabesque is fixed to the engagement side formed to the arabesque receiver with a screw.
