PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ocularly acknowledging device for the surrounding area of a vehicle capable of displaying camera images with good possibility of ocular acknowledgement by installing a plurality of cameras on the vehicle and selecting image(s) automatically in accordance with the driving situation. SOLUTION: In order to acknowledge different driving situations arising in the vehicle 11, a vehicle speed sensor 31A, distance measuring sensors 31Ba-31Bd, steering angle sensor 31C, a shift sensor 31D, a direction indicator 31E, and a car navigation device 31F are installed on the vehicle and connected with a driving situation judging part 21. A changeover control part 22 selects a plurality of ones among the picked-up images by image pickup parts 12a-12d on the basis of the driving situation judged by the driving situation judging part 21. An image processing part 23 subjects the picked-up images selected by the changeover control part 22 to a certain image processing in accordance with the driving situation and displays the result in a display part 13.
