PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a modified porous membrane with the cross-section area of pores controlled by a simple method and the modified porous membrane obtained by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a modified porous membrane with controlled cross-section area of pores has a process of preparing a porous membrane which has a separating-function layer having a large number of pores of an average pore diameter of 1-10 nm, between two opposing outer surfaces, and a process of reducing the cross-section area of the pores by an area n times that of the cross-section area of a polymer chain by inserting n polymer chains (n is an integer of 1-5) per pore into two or more of the pores of the porous membrane, with the polymer chains composed of a material different from that of the porous membrane.
