PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine with a function of variably displaying a plurality of symbols, capable of enhancing the game properties by allowing a player to play active games. SOLUTION: The slot machine 1 comprises a main display 3 with variable display parts 15A-15E for variably displaying symbols, a symbol determining means for determining stopped symbols to be stopped/displayed in the variable display parts 15A-15E, and a spin switch 8 for executing the starting operation to make the main display 3 start the variable display of symbols. In the slot machine, reference announcement, which can be referred to for the starting operation by the spin switch 8, is made in the main display 3, and it is determined whether the starting operation by the spin switch 8 was executed according to the reference announcement or not.
