PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welt sewing machine by which an error in sewing can be reduced. SOLUTION: The welt sewing machine comprises a cloth moving mechanism 40 conveying a cloth by moving large push members 41a, 41b in a conveying direction, a flap holding mechanism holding a flap F on the large push members, a sewing means carrying out sewing to the cloth, a flap detecting means 30 detecting reflecting light from an elongate reflecting face 41c formed on the upper face of the large push member 41a, an end part detecting means 60 obtaining the end part of the flap cloth from the state change of the detection of the reflecting light and determining a sewing start position or sewing finish position, and a judging and controlling means 60 moving the large push means along the conveying direction in a state without the sewing movement of the sewing means and executing the judgement of correctness of the reflection of the reflecting face.
