<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for shortening a time until a memory operation such as file transmission and reception is made available after an external storage device(memory card) is connected to a host. <P>SOLUTION: A memory card is connected to host, and a physical information acquisition process is completed, and in a file system information acquisition processing, the value of an MBR(Master Boot Record) or PBS(Partition Boot Sector) is calculated based on physical information acquired from the memory card by a device driver 103.
