The device has an adjusting ring (17) with a measuring bar (18) for detecting a tool cutting edge position. The device is applicable on a base plate (1) of a clamping device in exchange with a rotary disk of the clamping device. A slide gage (19) is slidable on the measuring bar until a measuring tip lies accurately on a centre marking of a workpiece, where the dimension of radius (R) of workpiece is adjusted accordingly. An independent claim is also included for a method for positioning a tool cutting edge adjusting device using a base plate with attached guide rail.
