The method involves moistening a package of silica gel (103) in a reactor (101) and irradiating it with ultraviolet light with at least one wavelength of 240-270 nm, introducing the air to be cleaned into the moist silica gel package and allowing the air to pass through the gel package after pre-dosing the air with moist ozone gas. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for cleaning and/or sterilizing air using ozone.
