The circuit has an imaging pixel array (400), an addressable buffer memory (200), and an image capture controller (410) for capturing image data from the pixel array. The image capture controller stores the image data into the buffer memory. A serial interface controller (300) provides a serial interface e.g. inter-integrated circuit (I2C), for communicating with logic outside of the integrated circuit. The serial interface controller controls the image capture controller, and transfers information to and from the buffer memory via the serial interface that controls a RC oscillator (420).
