An organic EL device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent conduction failure of an electrode and the cutting of an organic layer. An organic EL(Electroluminescence) device includes a first electrode(13), a protection layer(15) formed on the first electrode and having a first opening exposing the first electrode, an insulating layer(17) formed on the protection layer and having a second opening formed in a position corresponding to the first opening, an organic layer(19) formed on the insulating layer and the first electrode, and a second electrode(21) formed on the organic layer. A protection layer has a thickness thicker than that of the organic layer. |
