PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce correction of linear flaws caused by vertical transfer paths. SOLUTION: Each of pixel rows of an image sensor is provided with a vertical transfer path, and each vertical transfer path is provided with an electric charge detection amplifier. During through drawing output or in a moving picture mode, a horizontal scanning circuit sequentially selects electric charge detection amplifiers, in a decimation pattern which is determined for each photographic sensitivity and outputs image signals with the pixel rows decimated. Decimating patterns includes odd-numbered row patterns where only the odd-numbered rows are selected from among the whole pixel rows and even-numbered row patterns where only the even-numbered rows are selected. A pattern among these patterns, with the number of linear flaws originated from the vertical transfer paths being the smallest, is selected according to the photographic sensitivity.
