PRINTER AND METHOD FOR PRINTING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of suppressing variation in density. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a correction section for correcting a printing gradation value designated within a prescribed range determined by designatable minimum and maximum gradation values. The printer further comprises a head which has an element for performing an operation to eject ink and ejects ink whereby a drive signal corresponding to a size of a dot to be formed is applied to the element. The printer is equipped with a drive signal generation section that generates a drive signal for forming a dot with a size different from that of a dot which can be formed in the case where a post-correction printing gradation value is within the prescribed range when the post-correction printing gradation value corrected by the correction section exceeds the prescribed range.
